Mullingar Equestrian Centre Inter schools Results
October 23rd 2011.
Thank you to everyone who supported our inter schools on Sunday October 23rd. Well done to everyone who took part Over thirty teams took part in the seventh round of the Hoofprints inter schools show jumping league in Mullingar Equestrian Centre on Sunday last. There was great support from all the local schools with several teams taking part from Loreto College, St Finians, Wilsons Hospital & St Josephs Rochfortbridge. The longest journey was made by the team from the Good Counsel College in Wexford who was presently lying second in the inter schools league. Six teams went clear and through to the jump off round with another ten schools just missing out on a chance to go against the clock when they all finished on four faults. Two riders represented each of the schools in the jump off round. Rebecca Yorke set an early target when she had a superb clear on Buttons Two with a fast time of 37.06 for Scoil Mhuire Longford. Ashling Mc Greal although unlucky to roll a pole on the final fence recorded a good enough time to clinch a win for Longford school. Eadaoin Conways clear with Glascorn Lady and a four faulter from Fiachra Bray secured third position for St Finians College. Emily Loughrane & Nessa Briody jumped Loreto College / Newbridge team into runner up spot. While the indoor arena was busy with the open team event there was equal excitement & activity out in Sand Arena 2 where 120 competitors took part in the novice team event. Despite the persistent rain all day riders were cheered on by a huge number of enthusiastic spectators. A delighted Gallen team were the eventual winners from a very popular St Rochfortbridge team in second place. Patricia & Caroline Flynn along with Shona Mc Nicholas & Michelle Mc Cormack well deserved their runner up position having put in some great performances at the recent Friday night shows. Emma Flynn took the honours in the novice individual with Rebecca Yorke recording a double when she won the open individual having already been part of the winning open team event. Well done to all the schools that took part. We look forward to another round of the Hoofprints league in Mullingar next February.
Friday night show: The final of the Michael Joyce Autumn league takes place this Friday 28th @ 5.30. The league table can be viewed on our web site www.mullingarequestrian.com We hope that there will be a big turn out for the final. As it is Halloween weekend all competitors & ponies are expected to turn out in Fancy Dress !!. Enquiries 0449348331
